Video Preview: New Sojourn Split-EP Worship Project: The War & The Mercy Seat
The wait is almost over. This Saturday at The 930 Art Center in Louisville, Sojourn Music will hold a Release Party for our first new worship project since 2009: two EPs featuring East Campus Worship Director Jamie Barnes and Midtown Campus Worship Director Brooks Ritter. Sneak Preview Of Two Songs From New Sojourn CD & Interview With Brooks Ritter/Jamie Barnes
Sojourn Music is releasing ten new songs online February 22. Sojourners and others in Louisville can hear it sooner, at our Release Party on Saturday, Feb. 19 at The 930 Art Center. Free New Song Based On Revelation: Let The Seventh Angel Sound On High
You probably haven’t heard too many worship songs that use Revelation, and particularly Revelation 11, as a base text. In fact, most of you have probably never heard one, but that’s all about to change. As many of you know, I got married recently. The bride, Kristen, first began attending Sojourn in August 2009 and joined Sojourn Music a short time later as a worship leader. Sojourn Playing The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary Annual Community Hymn Sing
Sojourn Music will participate in the 13th annual Southern Baptist Theological Seminary’s Community Hymn Sing this Tuesday, March 2. A Sojourn band made up of Pastor Mike Cosper, Jamie Barnes, Brooks Ritter, Rebecca Dennison and Martin Stam will play songs from our Over The Grave album and other Isaac Watts hymns. Thoughts On "Jesus, Savior Pilot Me"
Here’s a good word for churches concerning contextualized songs for worship. Inspired by the recent CD from BiFrost Arts, Come O Spirit – we started off our services with their arrangement of the old hymn “Jesus, Savior, Pilot Me”. A pastor named Edward Hopper wrote this particular hymn in 1871. Apparently he ministered to a church that was located along the New York City harbor called The Church of Sea and Land. Free Sojourn Song Demo — Charles Wesley's "O For A Thousand Tongues To Sing"
O For A Thousand Tongues is a familiar hymn that dates back to 1739. Charles Wesley penned the words based around his reading of Revelation 5 that gives a picture of an army of angels circling around the throne singing praise to God. I had long forgotten about this hymn until a friend requested I play it in his wedding a few months back. I had always been fond of the original melody, but after searching for an arrangement to use, I was a bit miffed at the severe lack of choices.
