Original Wedding Music — Get Two Songs For Free!

As many of you know, I got married recently.  The bride, Kristen, first began attending Sojourn in August 2009 and joined Sojourn Music a short time later as a worship leader.  She sings, plays piano and guitar, and write songs — so now I get to live with a demo vocalist and co-writer.  Not that that’s the most important thing … It was a very Sojourn Music wedding.  Worship & Arts Pastor Mike Cosper officiated and several worship leaders performed music and attended.  I thought I’d share some “Sojourn Music” wedding photos with you below, but first I’ll share demos …« Read Entire Post

Sojourn Music & Together For The Gospel Attendees

Yesterday, Sojourn played host to Christians and ministry leaders from around the United States who have been in Louisville this week for the Together For The Gospel conference.  After lunch in The 930 Listening Room at our Midtown Campus, Sojourn Music leaders spoke with our guests at an informal panel. We enjoyed sharing our story and answering questions from these new friends, who are doing music ministry in a variety of churches and regions. In the picture above, seated from left to right: Worship Leader Rebecca Dennison, Pastor Chad Lewis, East Campus Director Jamie Barnes, Worship & Campus Development Pastor …« Read Entire Post

"Mourning Into Dancing" In The Blogosphere

Tony Kummer recorded the above video, which features a behind-the-scenes look at yesterday’s sold-out Band Of Bloggers event during Together For The Gospel week here in Louisville. You’ll hear our recording of “Mourning Into Dancing” from These Things I Remember in the background (written by Sojourn worship leader Jeremy Quillo). And the green Ford Explorer, used to transport the gift bags full of books for conference attendees? That’s mine. My car is a video star. Maybe it will stop being so greedy for gas now.  The folks who are carrying bags out of the Explorer included several of the panelists …« Read Entire Post

Using "In Christ Alone" In Church: Worship Song Series

In Christ alone, my hope is found He is my light, my strength, my song … With those opening lines, Keith Getty and Stuart Townend began the quintessential contemporary hymn, “In Christ Alone.”  In this age of praise and worship songs containing a single verse and a chorus (sometimes a second chorus and/or a bridge) one would have thought that “In Christ Alone” didn’t have a chance — no chorus, four big verses of eight lines each, in metered poetry. Keith and Kristyn Getty lead worship at Sojourn And yet, churches all over the world sing this anthem of the …« Read Entire Post

As a featured vocalist and songwriter on Sojourn records like Over The Grave, Before The Throne and Advent Songs, and as a regular member of the Sojourn worship team, Brooks Ritter’s magic voice has turned up in a lot of iPods and CD players.  He’s also played some big venues, in addition to Sojourn Gathered on Sundays. Worshiping And Hangin' With Sojourn's Sister, New Acts 29 Plant "The Oaks Community Church"

Middletown, Ohio is an interesting town, an old blue-collar community that owed its existence for years to AK Steel.  Throw in the mix of students and educators from nearby Miami (OH) college and the fact that it sits on the I-75 corridor between Cincinnati and Dayton, near enough to each city for a work commute or night on the town, and it makes for a diverse population and a blended culture. The Oaks Community Church, a ten-month-old Acts 29 church plant, was birthed by a group of mostly 20-somethings who worshiped God together in a small group before they, led …« Read Entire Post
