Before the Throne
Before the Throne

Sojourn’s latest worship album connects the worship practices of the Church gathered to the ordinary stuff of daily life, a life lived before the throne of God. This life is a rich and varied experience of adoration, confession, thanksgiving, prayer for guidance, prayers of repentance and communal sharing of God’s peace, blessing and love.

Before the ThroneMore Details
Comprised of one classic hymn and ten new songs for worship written by members of the Sojourn community, “Before The Throne is our most ambitious and collaborative project to date. From straight-on rockers like “My Maker And My King to jazz-influenced cuts like “I’m Coming Back, and from contemporary hymns such as “In The Shadow Of The Glorious Cross and “Lead Us Back to praise songs like “Come And Sing and “There Is A Peace, this album leads us through the movements of life, helping to inform and transform our prayers and remind us that no matter where we go, we are living and breathing in the presence of God, and that all of our lives are lived “Before The Throne.

The vocalists and musicians on this collection have shared the stage with artists like Norah Jones, Derek Webb, Bill Mallonee and Peter Searcy, but never have they sounded better than on this theologically compelling and musically diverse set of new music for the modern Church.

Chad Lewis: Fading Grass
Chad Lewis: Fading Grass

Sojourn worship leader Chad Lewis’ rich, powerful baritone shines on this recording of ten self-penned songs that lead us through lament, introspection, acceptance and peaceful assurance as he explores the frailty of human effort and the all-sufficiency of God’s grace.

Chad Lewis: Fading GrassMore Details
Lewis is a storyteller, and his songs create a world brimming with word-pictures of rivers and fields, peach trees and dusty roads, hardened clay ground and fertile shore lines, dark places where storm winds blow, night skies full of shooting stars, distant seas, cross roads, dwindling fires that yield cold, smoldered embers, a barren land and the hand of Providence that leads the traveler home.

The music is raw, unbridled Americana — heartland, blue-collar folk rock. The band (Lewis, Mike Cosper, Eddy Morris and Nate Mitchell) plays it loose but never sloppy, rocking hard on cuts like “Remind Me and “Mire, and providing gentle restraint on songs like “Oklahoma Fields and “My Psalm.

These Things I Remember
These Things I Remember

This 11-track collection of aesthetically diverse songs of faith, pain, longing and reflection based on the Psalms features worship music by Sojourn community members Mike Cosper, Rebecca Dennison and Jeremy Quillo.

These Things I RememberMore Details
With stylistic influences ranging from the mountains of Appalachia to the villages of Asia to modern American rock, this record reconnects modern listeners with the language of the Psalms, reflects the diversity of creation and explores the tension between faith and doubt, triumph and struggle, laughter and lament.

Dedicated to the memory of Aaron Marrs, a community member lost at sea when the vessel he was working on capsized off the coast of Alaska, “These Things I Remember focuses on loss and healing, and the stubborn faith — in the midst of tragedy and questions – that only comes from the Spirit of God.

With the Angels
With the Angels

Sojourn began with a series of conversations between a group of people hungry to experience God in an authentic community. The first original songs that Sojourners sang together were the raw, Bible-infused songs of worship leader Jeremy Quillo.

Nine of those songs, in addition to the classic “Come Thou Fount, are featured on this, Sojourn’s first CD, with Jeremy leading a diverse, energetic band through praise, confession, questioning and fulfillment in Christ.

Several of these songs have become Sojourn classics and still move people to embrace the glory of God in Sojourn worship gatherings today. Songs like “How Can The Heavens Hold You, “Sacred Confession, “Everything and “All of Creation, which present Christ as King and Savior, Redeemer and Sustainer.

The first eight tracks were recorded at Ear Candy Studios in Louisville. Two bonus live tracks round out the album, allowing the listener to hear the organic, honest sound of Sojourn’s praise band leading the congregation in these songs of faithful witness.

Advent Songs
Advent Songs

The album “Songs for the Advent” was recorded in 2003: a collection of original, traditional and instrumental songs celebrating the season of waiting and anticipation before Christmas. This record revisits the spirit and songs of that record, reviving three original tracks and adding five new songs and traditional arrangements.

Advent SongsMore Details
The emphasis here is on the already/not-yet tension of advent. Advent comes to us in the darkest season of the year — a season when the nights are long, the days are cold, and we look with anticipation for the return of warmth in the spring. The songs have both a dark sense of anticipation and glimpses of light dawning in the face of the Christ child. As we celebrate this season, we celebrate that our Messiah has come, and we look with longing to the day when he comes again. As St. John says, “Amen! Come Lord Jesus.”
