Welcome to sojournmusic.com’s weekly worship music set list review & service recap.  You’ll not only read a list of the songs we led, but also the readings and prayers from our liturgy. You can find links to the set lists of this church and many other churches each week in the Worship Blog Carnival at theworshipcommunity.com. And you can learn about some of the songs we sing at Sojourn Gathered each week in advance of the Sunday service by reading my “Getting Ready For Sunday” post each Thursday at Sojourn’s online journal, TravelBlog.

Prelude: Psalm 25 written by Joe Day of Mars Hill Church. Hear “Psalm 25″ in its entirety and read an interview with Joe Day here.

Call to Worship: Welcome! When we gather as the church we come to remember and celebrate who God is and what he has done for us. The powerful creator that spoke everything into existence also calls us into His presence to experience his love and glory. Let’s echo the Psalmist with these words:

Your love, O Lord, reaches to the heavens,
your faithfulness to the skies.
Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains,
your justice like the great deep.
O Lord, you preserve both man and beast.
How priceless is your unfailing love!
Both high and low among men find refuge in the shadow of your wings.
They feast on the abundance of your house;
you give them drink from your river of delights.
For with you is the fountain of life; in your light we see light. – Psalm 36:5-9

Song: Our Great God

Prayer of Confession:
Lord, without you we are nothing.
Without your grace and love shining down onto us
we can only cower in the darkness of shame and guilt.
Lord, without the living water of Christ we are left with cracked, leaky cisterns that hold nothing for us.
But you mend the broken.
You lift up the lowly.
You bring the dead to life.
God, have mercy upon us.
Remind of us of your faithfulness.
Wash us clean by the cleansing blood of your son, Jesus. In his name. Amen.

Song: Christ Or Else I Die

Words of Assurance:
Though our sin deserves death, because of Christ’s sacrifice death is not the final word for those that place their trust. Hear our great hope of God’s people from the book of Revelation:

“They have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
Therefore, they are before the throne of God and serve him day and night in his temple;
and he who sits on the throne will spread his tent over them.
Never again will they hunger; never again will they thirst.
The sun will not beat upon them, nor any scorching heat.
For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd;
he will lead them to springs of living water.
And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.” – Revelation 7:14-17
