Call to Worship
Welcome! When we gather on Sundays as the church we come to remember and celebrate who God is and the love He has shown us. Today let’s sing out loud as a family to our great God. Hear His word:
Great is the LORD and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom. One generation commends your works to another; they tell of your mighty acts. We speak of the glorious splendor of your majesty— and we will meditate on your wonderful works. We tell of the power of your awesome works— and we will proclaim your great deeds. All generations will celebrate your abundant goodness and joyfully sing of your righteousness. -adapted from Psalm 145:3-7

Song: Great & Mighty written by Aaron Senseman and Kinley Lange. This was our response to God’s call to worship.
Confession
Let’s pray.
Loving Father, you are great and mighty and our hope is in you alone.
But we confess that sometimes we think we can do things all by ourselves
and we are overwhelmed with worry and fear.
We forget that you give us everything we have and that you make us who we are.
Please forgive us for trusting in ourselves.
Please forgive us for not trusting you to take care of us.
Thank you for always loving us even when we forget that we need you.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Song: O Love That Will Not Let Me Go the classic hymn by George Mathison, with melody by Christopher Miner for Indelible Grace.
Assurance -
God’s promises are all fulfilled in Jesus. Through His death and resurrection we can approach God, have a relationship with Him and find refuge in His presence.
God has given both his promise and his oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us. This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God’s inner sanctuary. Jesus has already gone in there for us. He has become our eternal High Priest. – Hebrews 6:18-20

Song: Rock of Ages by Augustus Toplady and Thomas Hasting. Our Midtown Worship Director Brooks Ritter recorded his arrangement on our Double EP project The War/The Mercy Seat. You can hear this version of “Rock Of Ages” in full, here.
