Sojourn Music Auditions July 20 – How We Do It

Every now and then we get questions from pastors and music ministers about how we find or audition new worship leaders and musicians. In that spirit, I’m posting a copy of the announcement for our next audition event. We hold these quarterly:

Sojourn Music is holding open auditions again for the worship team.

We as a church are blessed to have so many gifted servants who desire to use their gifts to bless the rest of the body of believers. So, in order to keep this ministry active and vital, we look forward to meeting with those that want to use their musical abilities to lead the church in corporate worship. If you are interested in auditioning, here is the low-down:

1. Auditions will be held on Wednesday, July 20 at 7 p.m. in the auditorium at The 930 (Midtown Campus). Childcare will not be provided.

2. You need to fill out an audition form

3. You must be a member of Sojourn or in the membership process to be considered for the team.

4. You will be expected to know these songs from the Sojourn Hymnal and to be ready to sing/play them:

Instrumentalists:
My Maker and My King
May Your Power Rest on Me
In the Shadow Of the Glorious Cross
Absent from Flesh

Female vocalists:
May Your Power Rest on Me
My Maker and My King

Male Vocalists:
In the Shadow of the Glorious Cross
Absent from Flesh (version from Water and the Blood album)

Obviously, the Sojourn CD’s serve as the immediate reference point for these tunes. But you can also hear all of these at sojournmusic.bandcamp.com. Lead sheets and links to song previews can also be found here at www.sojournmusic.com, on our digital hymnal page.

Lyrics and lead sheets will be provided the day of auditions, so please don’t feel the weight of having to memorize everything!

5. If you have any questions please email music@sojournchurch.com

Thanks,

Mike Cosper, Jamie Barnes, Brooks Ritter, & Chad Watson
