Welcome to the sojournmusic.com weekly worship music set list review. You can find links to the set lists of this church and many other churches each week in the Worship Blog Carnival at theworshipcommunity.com. And you can learn about some of the songs we sing at Sojourn Gathered each week in advance of the Sunday service by reading my “Getting Ready For Sunday” post each Thursday at Sojourn’s online journal, TravelBlog. 1. Savior King by Sojourn’s Joel Gerdis, Dave Moisan and Eddy Morris, adapted from Isaac Watts’s “Hymn 10.” This is the final song on our Over The Grave: The Hymns Of Isaac Watts, Volume One. You can download the chord sheet from our Over The Grave page, and hear the “Savior King” mp3 for free at Last.fm.
This is a cool song for a Palm Sunday celebration:
How happy are the ears that hear this joyful sound
Which kings and prophets waited for, and sought but never found
How blessed are the eyes which see this heavenly light — Savior King!

2. King of Glory by Chris Tomlin. We continued the Palm Sunday celebration theme with this popular contemporary praise song. You can hear Tomlin’s version for free at Last.fm.
Who is this king of glory?
The Lord — strong and mighty!

3. May Your Power Rest On Me by Sojourn’s Joel Gerdis and Neil Robins. We recorded “May Your Power Rest On Me” for Over The Grave: The Hymns Of Isaac Watts, Volume One. You can hear the mp3 at Last.fm, and you can download our chord sheet on our Over The Grave page, here at sojournmusic.com.
I can bear all things when temptation springs,
for You sustain me all my days …

4. Hosanna In The Highest (Palm Sunday version). You can hear the original on our Advent Songs record — the mp3 version is still available for free or whatever price you’re willing to pay. Songwriter Jeremy Quillo came up with new verses to transform this anthem for Advent and Christmas into a Palm Sunday song of celebration. During the service, children of Sojourn (and some adults!) waved palm branches as we sang.
Read the lyric/chord sheet of our Palm Sunday version of “Hosanna In The Highest” here.
Look! The Lord is drawing near!
Let the children shout and sing!
Tell the world that Life is here,
Jesus Christ, our God, our King!

5. Were You There When They Crucified My Lord the anonymous African American spiritual. We used “Were You There?” as our communion hymn for the week, which made for a serious reflection on the events symbolized by the Lord’s Supper.
Were you there when they crucified my Lord?
Were you there when they crucified my Lord?
Oh, sometimes it causes me to tremble, tremble, tremble.
Were you there when they crucified my Lord?

6. The Power Of The Cross the contemporary hymn by Stuart Townend and Keith Getty. As our liturgical movement continued to move from the Triumphal Entry of Palm Sunday to the horrible and wonderful sacrifice of Christ during His Passion, we sang:
Oh, to see my name
Written in the wounds,
For through Your suffering I am free.
Death is crushed to death
Life is mine to live,
Won through Your selfless love.
This, the power of the cross:
Son of God—slain for us
What a love! What a cost!
We stand forgiven at the cross.
7. The Wonderful Cross by Sir Isaac Watts, with contemporary chorus by Chris Tomlin and Jesse Reeves. We sang this as a song of praise and dedication.
Were the whole realm of nature mine,
That were an off’ring far too small.
Love so amazing, so divine,
Demands my soul, my life, my all.

8. Only Your Blood Is Enough by . This is a perfect song heading into Holy Week and Good Friday. You can view the chord sheet on our Over The Grave page, and you can hear the mp3 of “Only Your Blood Is Enough” at Last.fm.
Only Your blood can set us free!
Only Your blood can set us free!
Only Your blood can set us free!
