Hear 2 Free Songs From Brand New Album & Conversation With Sojourn’s Neil Robins

by Bobby Gilles on February 2, 2010

dirtpoorrobinsAs many of you know, Sojourn worship leader Neil Robins produced our latest worship CD, Over The Grave: The Hymns Of Isaac Watts, Volume One.  He also wrote several songs, sang and played a variety of instruments on Over The Grave.  His wife Kate is also a featured vocalist on the album, as she is on our Advent Songs and Before The Throne records.

Many of you also know that Neil and Kate perform and record as the rock band Dirt Poor Robins (check them out at dirtpoorrobins.com and their Myspace band page).

They have a brand new album coming out called Last Days Of Leviathan.  Not only that, but The 930 Art Center here in Louisville is hosting their FREE CD release party on Friday, February 26.  Fellow Sojourn artist Dave Moisan will open the show at 8pm, followed by Dirt Poor Robins at 9pm.

I interviewed Neil for Inside Sojourn, a free podcast available at iTunes and other podcast directories.  During this interview, we played the full CD cuts of TWO songs from Last Days Of Leviathan:

  • Leviathan
  • Alibi

We also discussed:

  • Similarities and differences between this album, Over The Grave, and the last DPR album, The Cage
  • The current music scene
  • Neil and Kate’s songwriting process
  • Details on the 2.26.2010 CD release party at The 930 Art Center.

(if you subscribe to the free Inside Sojourn podcast in iTunes but do not see the episode yet in the contents page, simply click “refresh” in the lower right hand corner of the Inside Sojourn contents page).

You won’t want to miss this episode.  The songs are hot; trust me.  Oh, and if you want to know what Neil is talking about when he mentions the Barry Gibb/Johnny Cash fire incident, check it here.
