Help The Effort In Haiti: Benefit Concert Featuring Sojourn Artists at The 930 This Saturday

breachbent - logo - low res - black bgA special message from Kevin Janes, long-time concert promoter for Sojourn’s music venue, The 930 Listening Room:

Hello Friends & Family Old and New,

Many of you know I’ve helped run a neighborhood music venue called The 930 Listening Room for a few years now, and we have a very special benefit show scheduled this Saturday, January 23 at 7 p.m. featuring five wonderful Louisville artists. Dubbed BreachBent: A Concert for Third World Justice, the show features Brooks Ritter, Jamie Barnes, The Parade Schedule, Dave Moisan, and Luke Asher, most of whom you may have heard on WFPK, 91.9FM.

100% of proceeds from ticket sales and a silent auction (to be held the same night in conjunction) will go to my dear friends Jeff & Vicki Rogers’ efforts through G.O. Ministries, an international missions/humanitarian organization based in Louisville. They have been on the ground in both Haiti and the Dominican Republic for years meeting the physical and spiritual needs of its people.

These needs were there before this week’s 24-hour news coverage, and they’ve only been heightened by the catastrophic earthquake last Tuesday. The international community has stepped up to provide much-needed aid in the aftermath, but G.O. has a unique advantage in that they’ve already got a presence and history there. Supplies and resources funneled through G.O. on the Dominican side of the island are often getting through faster than those from other outside organizations going through the Haitian capital, as communications and transportation avenues there remain jammed.

What started as a benefit to support Jeff & Vicki’s regular day to day efforts with G.O. in Dominican and Haiti has been expanded to meet the very real immediate needs of millions on the Haitian side of the island. $10 gets you in the door this Saturday for an all ages show. Some of the auction items include iPods, restaurant gift cards, unique services such as free home painting, and much more. So bring extra money to bid on some nice items. Cash and check only accepted for the auction. Advanced will-call tickets for the show and more details can be found at the930.org. Hopefully we’ll sell the room out, so consider buying advance online.
