Welcome to the sojournmusic.com weekly set list review. You can find links to the set lists of this church and many other churches each week in the Worship Blog Carnival at theworshipcommunity.com. You can learn about some of the songs we sing at Sojourn Gathered each week in advance of the Sunday service by reading my “Getting Ready For Sunday” post each week at Sojourn’s online journal, TravelBlog. Photos this week by Dan Canales.
1. Your Blood Says Everything by Billy Sommerville. This is a well-worn song at Sojourn Gathered. We’ve sang it in several different parts of the service. Here we used it prior to the Call To Worship. The lyrics speak of complete dependence on the blood of Christ.
In the presence of Holiness,
I cannot speak
Your Blood Says everythingIn the presence of perfect love
I am too weak
Your blood says everything
Your blood says everything

2. Invitacion Fountain by Michael Pritzl of the Violet Burning. This is a great Call to Worship song:
Let all who are weak
All who are weary
Come to the Rock
Come to the Fountain
Let all who have climbed
The mountains of heartache
Reach to the sky
Come on, give your life

3. Merciful God by Keith and Kristyn Getty, and Stuart Townend. Pastor Mike Cosper, worship leaders Jamie Barnes and Brooks Ritter, and I had a great time with the Getty’s last week at the Calvin Institute of Christian Worship’s 2010 Worship Symposium. Keith is a great storyteller, even in casual conversation. The two of them, and their English writing partner Stuart Townend, are contributing songs for the Church that will live on for a long time.
Merciful God, O abounding in love,
Faithful to keep us from falling;
Guiding our ways with Your fatherly heart,
Growing our faith with each testing.
God speed the day struggles will end;
Faultless we’ll gaze on Your glory.
Then we will stand overwhelmed by the mercy of God
4. The Wonderful Cross by Sir Isaac Watts, the “Father of English Hymnody.” Who could write a greater song of assurance or hymn of praise?
Were the whole realm of nature mine,
That were an off’ring far too small.
Love so amazing, so divine,
Demands my soul, my life, my all.

5. How Deep The Father’s Love For Us by Stuart Townend. We used this song as our communion hymn of the week, as we often have over the last several years. It’s poignant at any times, but especially as we prepare to take the Lord’s Supper:
I will not boast in anything: no gifts, no power, no wisdom
But I will boast in Jesus Christ; his death and resurrection
Why should I gain from his reward? I cannot give an answer
But this I know with all my heart: his wounds have paid my ransom
6. There Is A Peace by Sojourn’s own Charlie Richardson. You can hear the “There Is A Peace” mp3 at Facebook.com/sojournmusic, and view the chord/lyric sheet here at sojournmusic.com on our Before The Throne page.
You’ve been tempted and shaken, tested and failed
You’ve been so far from Jesus, too close to hell
Your vision’s been clouded by this world’s delight
But I tell you you’re not of this world so stand up and fight
You’re not of this world so stand up and fight

7. God Of This City written by the band Bluetree. This was our song for the Sending, prior to participating the Benediction.
You’re the Lord of creation
The Creator of all things
You’re the King above all kings You are…
You’re the Strength in the weak You’re the Love to the broken

I really like Bluetree’s version of God of this City…it has a big powerful tune with lyrics talking about a big powerful God. The CD by the band came out about a year ago (also titled God of this City). One of the few CD’s in which I like every track.
Wow! You guys really know how to do it. Great set. God bless. It’s not on this list but we are doing “Warrior” this week. AWESOME song!!!
