1. Silent Night the classic carol by Joseph Mohr. Depending on the service, Sojourners sang along with arrangements by either BiFrost Arts or Rosie Thomas. Both are excellent modern versions of “Silent Night.”
2. Hosanna In The Highest by Sojourn’s Jeremy Quillo. We were honored to give the mp3 of this song away last week on Between Two Worlds, the Gospel Coalition blog of our good friend Justin Taylor. This is one of the first original Sojourn Christmas songs. You can hear it on our Advent Songs CD, which you can get for whatever price you’d like to pay for it at Noisetrade.com.
3. O Come, O Come Emmanuel, a 12th Century Latin Hymn translated by John Neale, with music by Thomas Helmore. You can also hear this one on our Advent Songs record. It is in some ways the quintessential song of advent, a plea for divine intervention from the promised Messiah:
O come thou Day-spring come and cheer
our spirits by thine advent here.
and drive away the shades of night,
and pierce the clouds and give us light
4. Hark The Herald Angels Sing by the great hymnist Charles Wesley, arranged by Sojourners Brooks Ritter and Dan Cassin. In fact, you can hear or download the lo-fi demo of “Hark The Herald Angels Sing” that Brooks made for our worship bands at the Sojournmusic.com Radio podcast on iTunes. 5. Joy To The World by Isaac Watts, with an original melody by Sojourn’s Jamie Barnes. This is the first cut on the Advent Songs album. Not only can you hear it there, but you can hear Jamie’s original demo here on sojournmusic.com, in a post entitled New “Joy To The World” Melody Lets The Text Speak — Hear It For Yourself. In this post, you’ll get:

6. O Come All Ye Faithful by John Wade, arranged by Sojourn’s Mike Cosper. This carol is also on Advent Songs. It’s a great Advent/Christmas song for closing out a communion service (as we used it this week) or for a Call To Worship:
O come, let us adore Him. O come, let us adore Him.

7. Glory Be written by Sojourn Worship & Arts Pastor Mike Cosper, recorded on Advent Songs. This is one of the first original Sojourn Christmas songs, and we’ve enjoyed singing it for several years. Here, we used it as a song for the sending, before the Benediction:
