This set list is one of many that you can find at the worship music set list blog carnival at fredmckinnon.com, featuring many different kinds of churches. You can learn about some of the songs we sing at Sojourn Gathered each week in advance of the Sunday service by reading our “Getting Ready For Sunday” post each Friday at Sojourn’s online journal, TravelBlog.
Sojourn photographer Dan Canales has provided photos from the morning Germantown services.

1. Jesus Savior, Pilot Me, words by Edward Hopper; music by Bilfrost Arts. The band played this as Sojourners entered our auditorium, took their seats and began to sing:
As a mother stills her child,
Thou canst hush the oceans wild
Boisterous waves obey thy will
When thou says to them “Be still”
Wond’rous Sovereign of the sea
Savior, pilot me
2. Psalm 3, written as a metrical psalm by Isaac Watts and adapted by Sojourn’s Rebecca Dennison. This will be on our next CD, untitled for now but subtitled The Hymns Of Isaac Watts, Volume Two.
Arise, Oh Lord, fulfill Your grace
While I, Your glory sing:
“My God has crushed the serpent’s teeth
and death has lost its sting!”

3. Let Justice Roll Like A River, written by me (Bobby Gilles) and Rebecca Elliott. You can hear a live version of this song here, recorded by Rebecca and the Sojourn band at a Sojourn Gathered worship service in 2008.
Convict us Lord, we dance and laugh
Ignoring those who weep.
Correct us Lord; our golden calf
has lulled our hearts to sleep.
The gap between the rich and poor
Grows ever wider, shore to shore.
There’s racial hate, religious war
and wolves among the sheep.
4. Fellowship So Deep, written by Kinley Lange and Aaron Senseman. We sang this as a lead in to the Passing Of The Peace portion of our worship liturgy, which is very fitting since it describes the reason we can have true peace with each other:
Let us sing of our Redeemer
and of His blood that makes us free.
Know this gift is ours forever:
A fellowship so deep. A fellowship so deep.
5. Cling To The Crucified, written by Indelible Grace leader Kevin Twit, based on an anonymous text from Bonar’s “Lyris Consolationis.” This was our communion hymn of the week:
Cling to the Mighty One, Cling in thy grief
Cling to the Holy One, He gives relief
Cling to the Gracious One, Cling in thy pain
Cling to the Faithful One, He will sustain

6. God Of This City, written by Northern Irish band Bluetree and recorded by Chris Tomlin and many other worship artists. “Mission” was an over-riding theme of our service this week, flowing from the sermon texts (Isaiah 42 and 49). “God Of This City” is a great song for such an occasion:
You’re the God of this city,
You’re the King of these people
You’re the Lord of this nation, You are
You’re the Light in the darkness
You’re the Hope to the hopeless
You’re the Peace to the restless, You are
7. Mission’s Flame, by Matt Redman. This is a good song for the Sending — particularly on a week when we emphasized mission. Redman echoes John Piper in saying that worship must be the “fuel for mission’s flame.” We live on mission as an act of worship — a total lifestyle of worship.
