This set list is one of many that you can find at the worship music set list blog carnival at fredmckinnon.com, featuring many different kinds of churches. I’m reporting from the 9 a.m. Sojourn Gathered service at our Germantown campus. Photos by Chuck Heeke.
1. King of Glory, by Chris Tomlin. We sang this as a response to God’s call to worship:
There is one God He is Holy
There is one Lord over everything
There is one King He is Jesus
King of glory strong and mighty
2. Warrior, by Dave Moisan, Bobby Gilles and Neil Robins, inspired by Isaac Watts’s metrical version of Psalm 21. You can read the story behind the song, and see footage from a studio practice session, here at sojournmusic.com. You can also read the chord sheet from our Over The Grave: The Hymns Of Isaac Watts page, and hear the mp3 on facebook.com/sojournmusic or myspace.com/sojournrecords.
3. Over Death, by Jesse Eubanks and Neil Robins, adapted from Isaac Watt’s “Hymn 17.” You can also view or download the chords and lyrics to this song from our Over The Grave page. As you can tell, the title to our new album is a modification of this song title. It’s fun to belt out “Joyful — with all the strength I have” on the chorus, and to sing “where is the monster’s sting”.
4. Lead Us Back, by Bobby Gilles and Brooks Ritter. Hear the mp3 and view the chord sheet to this modern hymn of petition and confession on our Before The Throne page. You can also read our “story behind the writing of ‘Lead Us Back’ here at sojournmusic.com.
5. Solid Rock (My Hope Is Built On Nothing Less), by Edward Mote and William Bradbury. It doesn’t get any better than this:
When darkness seems to hide His face,
I rest on His unchanging grace.
In every high and stormy gale,
My anchor holds within the veil.
6. There Is A Peace, by Charlie Richardson. You can hear the mp3 on facebook.com/sojournmusic and view the chord sheet from our Before The Throne page:
You’ve been tempted and shaken, tested and failed
You’ve been so far from Jesus and too close to hell
Your vision’s been clouded by the world’s delight
But I tell you, you’re not of this world, so stand up and fight
He said “You’re not of this world, so stand up and fight!”
