Photo Blog: Sojourn Music At Counseling Conference

We’ve just completed a big conference on biblical counseling here at Sojourn, developed by our Counseling Pastor Robert Cheong.  Author Paul David Tripp led the main sessions, while pastors from The Village Church (TX), Mars Hill (WA) and Covenant Fellowship (PA) led breakout sessions (as did Pastor Robert and Nathan Ivey, the director of our mercy ministry). Sojourn bands led worship in each of the main sessions.  You can visit counseling.sojournchurch.com for a full photo blog of the conference.  We’ve also got the audio from Paul Tripp’s first session (on marriage) online at sojournchurch.com, and we’ve got live-blog coverage of …« Read Entire Post

Sojourn Leaving Rhode Island, Heading For Kansas City!

As I mentioned last week, Sojourn took a trip to the Northeast last week, playing Rhode Island shows Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  Here are some photos from the Saturday concernt at Lifepath Church.  The band is posing in the first photo with some of our great blogger/worship leader friends, Alastair Vance and Joel Klampert.  Joel is responsible for bringing the band to Lifepath, his church. In the remaining shots, the boys (and girl) play songs from Over The Grave and other Sojourn favorites. And in just a few weeks they’ll be on the road again, this time to play in …« Read Entire Post

Ron Man On Appropriate Musical Choices For Worship

The following article is reprinted with permission from Ron Man’s Worship Notes.  It’s a great article on the many things to consider when making musical choices for worshiping through song.  Download the pdf from the link above to see this article in its original form and to pull up links to a music mp3 and notation sheet. Making Musical Choices:  WHAT IS APPROPRIATE? by Ron Man The most consistently asked question  of me in my international teaching is about whether a certain type of music is  appropriate for use in Christian worship. Sojourn Music Team Attending Worship God '09

Several Sojourn worship leaders are attending this week’s Worship God ’09 Conference.  As many of you know, Worship God is a biannual conference sponsored by Sovereign Grace ministries.  You may be familar with Sovereign Grace worship CDs and the excellent worshipmatters.com, Bob Kauflin’s blog (his book Worship Matters: Leading Others To Encounter The Greatness Of God is one of the best books for worship leaders I’ve ever read). The conference runs Wednesday through Saturday this week, in Gaithersburg, Maryland.  Follow @sojournmusic on Twitter for updates.
