Yesterday I published a photo blog of pictures that Chuck Heeke took, featuring the Sojourn band leading worship at Advance ’09. Today, Chuck is back with photos from the Re:Sound event featuring the worship bands from Sojourn, Vintage 21 and Mars Hill, our lovely merch girls and J.D. Greear, pastor of The host venue for Re:Sound, The Summit Church:
Entering Summit Church.
Left-to-right: Neil Robins, Megan Shaffer, Brooks Ritter, Pastor Mike Cosper. You’ll notice the lyrics to our Before The Throne song “There Is A Peace” on the Power Point big screen.
Neil and Megan. Neil produced our new Over The Grave worship record. Megan is a dynamic vocalist who recently joined the Sojourn worship team.
Indie rock fans may also recognize Neil from the bands Dirt Poor Robins and No More Kings.
Brooks Ritter, a featured vocalist on our last three CDs, and my occasional songwriting partner. His debut solo album The Horse Fell Lame gets frequent airplay on Louisville’s public radio AAA station, 91.9 fm WFPK and was named by WFPK’s Laura Shine as one of the top ten albums of 2008.
The man behind Sojourn’s worship & arts ministry for all of our nine-year existence: Pastor Mike Cosper.
And look, Mike is singing right along with Megan and Brooks on this one. Get that man a microphone.
Pastor Tim Smith of Mars Hill Church in Seattle.
The Mars Hill band (Ex Nihilo)Â takes the stage. They’ve just released a record label, also called Re:Sound, which will be a fantastic resource for the world-wide church.
The Vintage 21 band, another unique, missionally-driven worship band from an Acts 29 church. Check them out.
Laura Beth O’Nan and Megan Shaffer at our merchandise table. Laura Beth holds two Over The Grave CDs and sticks her tongue out for all the world to see. Megan holds our Before The Throne CD.
And now they look sweet. Oh, and yes, folks, Laura Beth and her husband, drummer Alex O’Nan (Sojourn, Interstates) are due to have a baby real soon. That’s not a soccer ball under that shirt.

hey, what’s that instrument Mike is playing? (not the guitar)
It’s a lap steel guitar.
Wow. What a night. I feel so privileged to have been there. The Holy Spirit was present and magnifying Christ in a mysteriously wonderful way.
The last song of the Re:Sound set (written by Jamie Barnes, name escapes me)…was it a preview of the second half of the Isaac Watts Project? or is it already available somewhere?
-D
It was a preview of the second half of the Watts project. It’s called “Absent From Flesh” (based on Watts’s “Absent From Flesh, O Blissful Thought”).
