This set list is one of many that you can find at the worship music set list blog carnival at fredmckinnon.com, featuring many different kinds of churches. Photos by Sojourn’s Dan Canales.
We began to worship together by listening to the Call to Worship based on Psalm 27; John 4:23. As always, you can find (and freely use) many of our Calls to Worship and other readings at theopensourcebook.org.
1. All Creatures Our God And King, by Francis of Assissi. This is one of the most well known call to worship hymns, and deservedly so.
After a call to confession, we then read a prayer out loud together, based on Psalm 51:10-12 and prayed silently afterward.
2. Of Psalm 51 (Cleanse Me With Hyssop), by Sojourn’s own Rebecca Dennison. You can hear this on our 2005 worship album, These Things I Remember. And if you don’t own it, you can even hear the “Of Psalm 51” track — and view the chord sheet — from the These Things I Remember page here in sojournmusic.com.
Rebecca excels adapting psalms into modern worship songs, as she did with this one and as she’s done with Psalm 13 on our new Over The Grave: The Hymns Of Isaac Watts CD, by turning it into “How Long” (read her story about it and listen to this brand new song here at sojournmusic.com).
In the 11:15 morning service we witnessed a baptism after “Of Psalm 51.” This is always a great time of celebration. By extending our hands and repeating the baptismal proclamation with the leader who is conducting the baptism, we all “baptize” the candidate together. We publish baptism testimonies regularly on Sojourn’s online journal, TravelBlog (travelblog.sojournchurch.com).
3. Here Is Love, by William Rees and Robert Lowry, with an additional chorus by Matt Redman. This is a powerful hymn of assurance in Christ for our salvation:
Grace and love, like mighty rivers
Poured incessant from above
And Heav’n’s peace and perfect justice
Kissed a guilty world in love
After “Here Is Love” and the Passing of the Peace, Sojourn elder-candidate James Santos preached the last of a three-week study on King David — this one, focusing on the adulterous and murderous story of David and Bathsheba: Conceal Or Confess (2 Samuel 12).
4. Your Blood Says Everything, by Billy Sommerville. Our communion song for the week is simple and direct, and is a “golden oldie” within the Sojourn Community:
Hear the Word, spoken from the tree
Heaven broken open … Your blood says everything
5. Beautiful Scandalous Night, by Steve Hindalong and Derry Dougherty. This is another one we’ve sang for several years at Sojourn Gathered.  It uses “night” as a symbol for the darkness that enveloped Jerusalem upon Christ’s crucifixion:
At the wonderful tragic mysterious tree
On that beautiful scandalous night you and me
Were atoned by His blood and forever washed white
On that beautiful scandalous night
6. You Never Let Go, by Matt and Beth Redman. This is one of my favorite of the many great Redman worship songs. It’s a fitting reminder of God’s power and goodness before a benediction:
I can see a light that is coming for the heart that holds on
a glorious light beyond all compare
and there will be an end to those troubles, but until that day comes
we’ll live and know You here on the earth.
We ended with announcements, including the announcement of our monthly prayer meeting on early Tuesday morning, and this Benediction:
Go and do not fear evil - Remember that God has made clear the path of righteousness by the cleansing blood of Jesus Christ. Go now in the name of the Father, the Son and Holy Spirit. Peace be with you.

Very proud of my two bros, Bryon and Phil, who served at night. It was a blessing to see those guys up there.
So do we “Sojourn” have an mp3 of “You Never Let Go” available or is it on a cd that I don’t know about. It rocked Sunday!
We don’t have a recording of that one. I agree — they did a great job on it Sunday and it felt good to sing along.
