As many of you know, this August Sojourn will open our second campus in Louisville. Our current home is The 930 Art Center in Old Louisville (in or near the Germantown, Smoketown and Shelby Park neighborhoods). Our new site will be in the St. Matthews area. We’ll continue to hold four Sunday services at The 930 and one service in St. Matthews.

What does this look like for our worship music teams and Sunday liturgy? Well, as the second article above describes, the starting point for our decision to open a St. Matthews campus was Lifespring Community Church, a small but Bible-believing community that has voted to cease as Lifespring and become part of Sojourn. They’ve been meeting in St. Matthews for 2 1/2 years and will go through the Sojourn membership process over the next couple months.
We will gradually introduce Sojourn worship elements into services in St. Matthews. Sojourn Worship & Arts Pastoral Assistant Jamie Barnes has already met with Lifespring Pastor Dan Horton and key members of the worship team, assessing the current state of their ministry, going over the song lists and becoming acquainted with their Sunday gatherings, and leading worship in St. Matthews.
Worship pastor Mike Cosper and the Sojourn elders have a strategic plan in place for to gradually add our liturgical elements into St. Matthews services, beginning with the Call To Worship. We will not merely have them start doing these elements but will teach what they mean.
Over the next three months Sojourn Music will work with the existing St. Matthews worship team even as we add our musicians into the mix. Again, the goal is gradual, steady transition. We ask for the prayers of our many friends in worship ministry who read this blog and play our music, as well as the prayers of all current and soon-to-be members of Sojourn Community Church.
