Introducing A New Online Worship Resource — The Open Sourcebook

I’ve often presented liturgical readings for personal, family and congregational worship here on sojournmusic.com, from The Worship Sourcebook.  Now, Sojourn Worship & Arts Pastor Mike Cosper has teamed up with Nathan Bierma, Communications and Research Coordinator of the Calvin Institute of Christian Worship, to bring you a free online resource called The Open Sourcebook.

Check out the growing body of readings, all tagged and categorized for easy viewing and quick reference.  Mike and Nathan craft these prayers, litanies and readings with great care.  They want to ensure that everything works well when read aloud, and that the language will make sense to new Christians and seekers without being “dumbed down.”

From the site:

The Open Sourcebook is a collaborative project that aims at creating useful, plain-language resources for worship. Our goal is to create contextualized and comprehensible prayers, confessions, and readings that are easily understood by both insiders (those who have actively participated in church life for a while) and outsiders (those who are new to church life and unfamiliar with church language).

We’ll continue to talk about the seasons of the Christian Year and liturgical movements from call to worship to benediction here on sojournmusic.com, but I’ll link to theopensourcebook.org to present the actual readings.  These readings are all free for you to use in your worship gatherings, and adapt as you see fit.
