Today’s music set list post is one of many that you’ll find in the Blog Carnival at fredmckinnon.com, an aggregate listing of set lists from a variety of church worship services across the globe. Photos here by Dan Canales.
1. Come and Sing, by Sojourn songwriter Jeremy Quillo. This was the “Call to Worship” song from our Before the Throne record. You can read the chord sheet from our Before the Throne page. Also, listen to the mp3 from the Facebook fan page for Sojourn Music (along with many other song mp3s, videos and photos there). You can also read “the story behind the song,” written by Jeremy Quillo himself. And in a side note, tomorrow Jeremy will share one of his thanksgiving-themed songs with you and share the story behind it, here on sojournmusic.com.
2. O Help My Unbelief, words by Isaac Watts, music by Justin Smith of Indelible Grace. You can hear “O Help My Unbelief” on the latest Indelible Grace record, Wake Thy Slumbering Children, and preview the track on their website.
3. Beneath the Cross, written by Keith and Kristyn Getty.  Preview their own version on the gettymusic website. We did this contemporary hymn as a song of assurance and lead in to the giving of the peace:
How could I now dishonor
the ones that You have loved?
Beneath the cross of Jesus
see the children called by God.
4. Alas! And Did My Savior Bleed, hymn text by Isaac Watts. The melody is a traditional Irish tune, arranged by Annie Quick of Redeemer Presbyterian Church in New York (Tim Keller’s church). You can hear this arrangement for “Alas! And Did My Savior Bleed” from Redeemer’s New York Hymns web page.
Was it for crimes that I had done
He groaned upon the tree?
Amazing pity! Grace unknown!
and love beyond degree!
5. Cling to the Crucified, words anonymous (from Bonar’s “Lyra Consolationis”), alt. and music by Kevin Twit of Indelible Grace.  “Cling to the Crucified” is another song from the Indelible Grace Wake Thy Slumbering Children album, and the mp3 is also available for preview on their website. We sang it at Sojourn Gathered as a hymn of dedication, as the communion and offering portion of our liturgy drew to a close.
6. O Church Arise, by Stuart Townend and Keith Getty. This was our “song for the sending” this week, and a great one it is:
O church arise and put your armor on
hear the call of Christ our Captain
For now the weak can say that they are strong
in the strength that God has given
