Recording continues for the first of two CDs Sojourn is creating, based on the hymns of Isaac Watts, the Father of English Hymnody. Below, you can view three short videos from producer Neil Robins’ studio and hear the unmixed instrumental track for “Let Your Power Fall On Me,” a Watts adaptation by worship leader Joel Gerdis (also a member of 49th Star and occasional stand-in for the Muckrackers).
The first video introduces our characters for this session. I’m including it because drummer Alex O’Nan is hilarious here — obviously not listening to a word we’re saying but nodding his head regardless:
In this next video you can hear the supple melody in the band’s recording of this song (these tracks were laid down previously). You’ll see producer Neil Robins speaking into a microphone, giving direction to Alex, who is listening in another room as he prepares to add the drum track. Then the track begins and Alex works his magic (as always during these videos, you may hear a click track as well — it’s the “computer blip” sound that sets the tempo):
In this final video, watch Alex (also of Interstates) lay the smackdown on the drums:
You can also download video #2 for free from our podcast, Sojournmusic.com Radio, available through iTunes and other podcast directories. Additional videos from this session are playing now in our Facebook and Myspace band pages. And as always, you can see all of these and recording sessions for our other new songs from my YouTube page. Feel free to embed any of them into your own blogs, Facebook or Myspace pages, emails, etc.

This new song sounds amazing. I love the melody.
Yeah, I do too. Kate Robins is going to sing the lead vocal. I think it’s gonna sound amazing.
