We’ve been talking a lot about the season of Advent here at sojournmusic.com, including the presentation of a sample Call to Worship scripture reading for personal use or corporate worship liturgy. Here, courtesy The Worship Sourcebook, are two additional readings for Advent:
Prayer of Adoration For The Season of Advent
Lord God Almighty,
King of glory and love eternal,
you are worthy at all times to receive adoration, praise, and blessing;
we praise you now for sending your Son, our Savior, Jesus Christ,
for whom our hearts wait, and to whom,
with you and the Holy Spirit, one God,
be honor and dominion, now and fore ever. Amen.
Prayer of Invocation for Advent
O send out your light and your truth,
let them lead me;
let them bring me to your dwelling.
Then I will go the the altar of God,
to God, my exceeding joy;
and I will praise you with the harp,
O God, my God.
Why are you cast down, O my soul,
and why are you disquieted within me?
Hope in God; for I shall again praise him,
my help and my God. Amen.
