Songwriting Workshop Focuses On Children’s Worship Songs

by Bobby Gilles on October 29, 2008

LoganchurchSojourn will host an informal workshop for songwriters, focusing on how to write worship songs for children’s worship, this Saturday, November 1 at 1 pm.  Although this workshop was primarily conceived for songwriters who are members of Sojourn Community Church (Louisville) for songs to be used in our Sojourn Kids ministry, all songwriters are welcome, as are those from other churches involved in music ministry or children’s ministry, and any other interested parties.

Chandi Plummer, who works with Sojourn Kids Director Jared Kennedy and is primarily responsible for children’s music at Sojourn, will be there to lead the discussion.  Chandi is a mother herself as well as an experienced vocal coach, and the wife of Sojourn pastor-elder Rob Plummer, who is also a seminary professor.

You can read Chandi and Jared’s joint article on selecting or writing worship songs for children (entitled Music For Little Ones) at theworshipcommunity.com.

You can also read my series of articles about how to start church songwriting workshops at theworshipcommunity.com.

If you are interested in attending our workshop and need more information, just use the “contact us” feature of this website to shoot me an email.  And as one final note, we will soon announce some exciting news about a major songwriting seminar coming to Sojourn’s home, The 930 Art Center, in February.  Stay tuned — subscribe to the sojournmusic.com RSS feed so you’ll be sure to get the update.

And come back tomorrow for the first article in a new weekly series from Sojourn Worship Arts Pastor Mike Cosper.
