Today through Wednesday, the Acts 29 Network is putting on a LEAD Conference that will focus on theological and practical implications of urban ministry. St. Louis church The Journey is playing host for the main sessions, which you can view for free via live streaming on PlantingChannel starting Tuesday morning at 9:15, EST.
The main sessions, along with three breakout tracks, will help give attendees the knowledge and tools needed to “equip, encourage and employ up and coming urban leaders.” Sojourn pastor/directors will lead all three breakout sessions:
Arts Track — Sojourn Worship Arts Pastor Mike Cosper will teach three sessions:Â
- The Arts and the Church (overview)
- Art For The Church
- Art From The Church
Jubilee Church will host this breakout track. More info is available at the Lead Conference website.
Mercy Track: Sojourn’s Director of Seed (our urban renewal initiative) Nathan Ivey will teach all three sessions along with Randy Nabors:
- Recruiting and Training Deacons
- Seeing Your Community as it Is and as it Can Be, pt. 1
- Seeing Your Community as it Is and as it Can Be, pt. 2
Incidentally, you can learn more about Sojourn’s Seed ministry at sojournmusic.com’s sister website, seed.sojournchurch.com. This track will also be hosted by Jubilee Church.
Church Planting Track: Sojourn Lead Teaching Pastor Daniel Montgomery will teach sessions 1 and 3 with Bob Thune:
Gary Rohrmeyer will teach session two:
- Building Gospel DNA 1
- Church Planting Landmines
- Building Gospel DNA 2
Daniel is fresh from a day of dunking booth madness, but I’m sure he’ll be over that waterlogged feeling by his time to speak.
At least two of my favorite bloggers will be there: Timmy Brister and Joe Thorn. Check in with their blogs (and even more so, their Twitter profiles) to see what they post from the event.

And don’t forget that you can stream the main sessions for free at the Planting Channel link in my opening paragraph above.
Those of you who are attending, say “hi” to the Sojourn folks. You might also run into deacon/worship leader Neil Robins, producer of our upcoming worship CD. Neil will be there Tuesday and Wednesday, and he’s quite a character. Incidentally, tomorrow here at sojournmusic.com I’ll be posting footage of a recording and practice session of the new CD at Neil’s studio. Be sure to visit this blog (in between listening to live feeds from LEAD) to hear sound samples of two brand new songs that will be on the next Sojourn album.
Anyone else going to Lead? Will you be updating through your blog, Twitter, or other social media platform? Feel free to comment and post your link.
