Heard of Wovenhand? This David Eugene Edwards (formerly of 16 Horsepower) band has been drawing rave reviews from critics and music lovers alike, and will be playing The 930 Listening Room here in Louisville this Thursday, October 9. You can get all the pertinent info on the show at the930.org, but I thought even those of you reading this from afar would enjoy the promo video that our own singer-songwriter and worship leader Jamie Barnes made for this live show. Travel with Jamie below as he goes for ice cream (and you may be surprised to learn the location of, in Jamie’s opinion, the “best place for ice cream.”

Wovenhand’s latest record, Ten Stones, renders a beautiful encounter with healing, suffering and sorrow. “Not one stone/ atop another will stand,” sings Edwards, as creation lies motionless, paralyzed in the canyon of time. Then, as all great artists await a time when the pinnacle of their craft will be caught up in greater glory, he sings: “This weary melody ends/ The host of heaven descends/ Down beneath this bleeding ground/ Behold the lamb.”
The innovative band Interstates, fresh off of a new CD and cross-country tour, will open the show. Interstates features Sojourn members Alex O’Nan and Kyle Noltemeyer. I’ll be talking with Alex Tuesday here on sojournmusic.com, so be sure to check that out.
