This week here on sojournmusic.com, our podcast will feature teaching on “whole life worship” from Sojourn pastor Daniel Montgomery, our “Psalms, Hymns and Spiritual Songs” column with song lyrics, pictures, notes, and mp3 links, a new post in our “Worship Practices Explained” series, and more. But now, courtesy of Sojourn worship leader Lorie King, here is something for you as you celebrate this Lord’s Day:
A (Morning) Meditation in the Thought of Jesus
O God, I live today in a world where it is not easy always to remember You.
But so did Jesus.
I am tempted to believe in the power of evil as stronger than the power of good.
But so was Jesus.
I walk into the midst of crowds to whom the reality of this world alone appears convincing.
But so did Jesus.
I may be disappointed in some who I thought I could trust.
But so was Jesus.
Help me to remember Him.
By his unshaken faith, make me keep faith.
By his unswerving righteousness, help me to keep trying to do right.
By his witness to the power of another world, keep me from worldly-mindedness, and set my affections on the highest things I know.
By his patience with those who disappointed him, make me be patient and forgiving, conscious of my own shortcomings, and most of all concerned that my Master need not be disappointed when he looks at me.
Amen.
