Sojourn Worship Leader Featured On “The Habanero Hour” Show

by Bobby Gilles on August 26, 2008

Worship Arts Pastoral Assistant Jamie Barnes, also a Sojourn worship leader and a singer-songwriter with several solo albums that have garnered international rave reviews in print and digital media, is the featured artist on the new episode of The Habanero Hour, a music and interview podcast that explores and challenges the sacred/secular dichotomy in the arts and the concept of “Christian” music.

You can read the text of Jamie’s interview at the Colossians Three Sixteen site, or listen to it in The Habanero Hour podcast, along with two of Jamie’s solo songs and music by a host of indie artists like Capital Lights, Knights of the New Crusade, Justin McRoberts and much more.

The interview touches on many topics, like:

Christianity in the arts

the categorization of music

Jamie’s solo work

the Sojourn worship music ministry and Jamie’s growth as a worship leader

thoughts on being a Christian in the music industry

feedback from non-Christian music lovers

songwriting techniques, and much more.

Be sure to check out past episodes of The Habanero Hour as well, featuring interviews and music from artists like Bill Mallonee, Glen Phillips, Interstates (a band that is also made up of Sojourners), The Innocence Mission, Jeremy Casella, Anathalo, Steven Delopoulos, Alli Rogers and more.  And if you missed it over the weekend, here is a live video performance by Jamie that I first posted in Saturday’s blog column:
