Is there a way I could get a copy of sufjans holy holy holy for my church? I can’t find it anywhere! Did you guys transcribe it? I love that song… Any help at all would be very appreciated.

We’ve got a keyboardist named Dan Cassin who has a music degree and some experience with scoring — I actually got him to write out sheet music for some of my songs, not long ago. I believe a few others in our worship ministry have some experience with it as well. So in the future Pastor Mike and Jamie plan on tapping them to write out arrangements.

Jake, I just talked with pastoral assistant Jamie Barnes and he said the string/wind musicians just got together beforehand and worked out their parts off of the lead sheets.

They’re excellent musicians so it worked out well. In the future, though, we’ll probably do some scoring of arrangements as the occasion warrants it.

I wonder if I could get our pastor to start playing along. He was a first chair at UNT back in the day.

I have the same questions as Jake. I have neither the time nor the writing chops to chart out instrumental arrangements, so what’s your solution?

Did you have someone write arrangements for your string/winds section, or did you have them get together and figure out parts? I’ve long desired to have a combo like that, but have no idea how to do it well.

Yeah, my son Garrett actually just started playing clarinet in the 6th grade band — I need to hook him up for some pointers.

This guy’s name is Raphael Starr and he makes that thing sound amazing. He sat in with the band at our last audition and played “All I Have is Yours” from our “Before the Throne” CD, and added so much to the song. He did a cool solo too.
