A Worship Leader’s Role In Facilitating Congregational Worship: Interview With Sojourn’s Lorie King

by Bobby Gilles on August 11, 2008

jamieseminar-lk-and-ohio.jpgLorie King is one of Sojourn’s first and most experienced worship leaders, having served since shortly after our birth eight years ago. She’s also served in various churches around the world and completed a Master’s in Worship from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.  In this eight-minute audio interview, Lorie discusses some of the things she has learned, answering these and other questions:

What does it mean to “facilitate” corporate worship?

How is this different from simply modeling a personal worship experience?

Can the pursuit of excellence get in the way?

Bobby, thanks for making this interview available. It’s always helpful to review our roles as worship leaders. I think Lorie is right on when she emphasizes the corporate nature of our gatherings as opposed to our times of private worship. Thanks for providing a helpful resource to both worshipers and leaders of worship.
