New songs for modern missional worship, rich in Christian teaching and contextualized in modern culture. Contemporary hymns, psalms, songs of lament and praise written by members of the Louisville, KY-based Sojourn Community.
The format for this week’s Sojourn music set list article is a little different. Sojournmusic.com has just switched web hosts, and in the process (because I wasn’t smart enough to back things up when I knew we were going to be switching hosts) a blog post from last week and a couple drafts that were to be published this week were lost — including the original “Psalms, Hymns and Spiritual Songs” post, which featured the typical format of links, commentary on the songs, and some notes on the Bible readings we used and more.
Next week we’ll return to that format, but time has gotten away from me this week, in the midst of recording a couple worship leader interviews for upcoming podcast episodes, trying out some video equipment, working on an upcoming book, and attending a couple birthday parties. But regardless, here is our set list from this week’s worship gathering at The 930 (there is one cool video link to a song below) :
1. Blessed are the Poor in this Life, by Sojourn’s own Charlie Richardson.
2. All Creatures of our God and King, by Francis of Assissi (traditional melody)
3. Psalm 51, by Sojourn’s own Rebecca Dennison (hear the mp3 and view the chord sheet in the sojournmusic.com Music section, as part of the These Things I Remember CD page).
4. There is a Peace, also by Charlie Richardson (hear the mp3 from our Facebook page, which we’ve linked to in this website’s Helpful Links section) and view the chord sheet from our Music section, as part of the Before the Throne CD page).
5. How Deep the Father’s Love For Us, by Stuart Townend.
6. Thorns, again by Charlie Richardson. View Charlie and a Sojourn worship band (including worship arts pastorMike Cosper, Jamie Barnes, Lorie King, Miguel Monroy and Eddy Morris) performing this song on Fox in the Morning, the morning news TV program from Louisville’s FOX network affiliate, WDRB TV. The program originally aired August, 2007.
7. There’s A Higher Power by Ira and Charlie Louvin.
One more note: during the web host migration, we lost a blog article I published last week that told you about a new internet community of worship leaders, pastors, songwriters, musicians and those interested in worship arts. You can go to this community, known as theworshipcommunity.com, from our Helpful Links page at any time.
The site isn’t fully active yet, but the Forums section is. Participate in discussions with fellow worship leaders from all over the United States, Canada and elsewhere on subjects ranging from worship theology to team building, audio and video technology issues, and much more.

Hey I looked at my google reader and that lost page is still there. I can send it to you. Is there a reward?

That would be great! The reward is endearing gratitude, and your name/link mentioned as the rescuer at the front of the re-posted article.

I said “endearing” when I meant “enduring.” I guess that’s fine, other than that it makes me sound like a girly-man.
