How You Can Support The Family Of Steven Curtis Chapman And Offer Condolences For The Loss Of Their Daughter, Maria

Most of you are aware that Christian recording artist Steven Curtis Chapman’s five year old daughter Maria was killed in a tragic accident Wednesday night in the family driveway.

If you would like to send condolences, learn a little more about Maria and view a “goofy” blog video shot with her dad just two months ago, you can do so at this site that has been set up for this occasion.

The Bible tells us to weep with those who weep.  Of course we all know that countless tragedies happen every day, most of which we are unaware of because the people involved are not as much in the public spotlight as the Chapmans.  But let’s remember that Steven Curtis Chapman is a “high profile” Christian for a good reason — for spreading the gospel and edifying the saints.  And Proverbs 3:27 tells us, “Do not withhold good from those whom it is due, when it is in your power to do it.”

When we are made aware — through news media, word of mouth, or other ways — of a tragedy and a way to respond, it gives us the power and the opportunity to do good by sharing in another’s sorrow and offering godly encouragement, regardless of whether we personally know them.  And a Christian we don’t know is just someone we haven’t met yet.  We are the adopted children of God, and will spend eternity with each other.
