Christians In The Arts: Independent Film-Maker Documents Turmoil In Sudan And Creates Full-Scale Effort To Help With The Rebuilding

Simply click the play button below to hear my interview with Coury Deeb, founder of Nadus, an organization bringing awareness and action to the rebuilding efforts of war-torn Sudan.  Coury is a Christian artist who has used his skills in photography and film-making to document the struggles of southern Sudan as they seek to recover from civil war with the north.

In fact, I know of no better example of how God can use an artist, spurring the artist to say, “Here I am, this is my gift — how can I use it to work for the Kingdom?”  In the course of this interview, you’ll find that this is exactly what started this photographer on his journey.

Go to the Nadus website to see short documentaries regarding the needs of Sudan in four key areas: water, medical, education and church development (Coury talks about these in our podcast interview).  Also note that music for a couple of these short films was provided by Sojourn worship leaders Alex O’nan and Dirt Poor Robins.

You can also find out how to schedule screenings of The New Sudan, Nadus’ upcoming feature-length documentary, how you can book the traveling Nadus visual art exhibit for your gallery, and how you can bring Nadus to your church, school or civic organization to speak on their mission and the needs of southern Sudan, as well as other ways you can participate in God’s work there.
