Free Mp3 — Special Mother’s Day Song From Sojourn Music’s Jamie Barnes

by Bobby Gilles on May 10, 2008

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers out there.  Sojourn Worship Arts Pastoral Assistant Jamie Barnes, an accomplished singer-songwriter, wrote a special Mother’s Day song that we’re doing in our worship service today — a scripture song called “Remember Me (Prayer of Hannah)”. Here is Jamie’s own recording of this song, our Mother’s Day gift to you:

Later this week on sojournmusic.com and our podcast, hear a short interview I conducted with Jamie Barnes that goes “inside” a Sojourn worship band practice session.

Remember Me ( Prayer of Hannah ) words and music by Jamie Barnes
Remember me, Oh God
In my affliction
Your daughters call upon your name
I am not full of new wine, but of Holy Spirit
Tossed in the wake of my shame
If you read the lips of this silent prayer
Favor your servant, my aim to bear
No razor shall come to a single hair of our young ( I Sam 1:11 )
Let the joy that lives in me leap in your proximity ( Luke 1:41-45 )
Oh mothers of Israel behold the son who has opened the womb of the barren
you have opened the womb of the barren.
Remember me, Oh God
In my condition
Your daughters call upon your name
We do not fear the snow
We are draped in scarlet
Hued by the blood of the lamb.
May we raise our children to call us blessed ( Prov 31:28)
and bathe them with tongues of righteousness ( Prov 31:26 )
as we will claim them back from the jackal’s breast ( Lamentations 4:3 )
We will claim them back.
Let the joy that lives in me leap in your proximity ( Luke 1:41-45 )
Oh mothers of Israel behold the son who has opened the womb of the barren
you have opened the womb of the barren.

I thought Sojourn would be encouraged to know that mums Down Under in Tasmania were blessed by Remember Me (Prayer of Hannah) this morning.

Nick and Kate Gross (Nick’s our music leader) at Crossroads (http://crossroadshobart.org) performed the song for our mums in our Sunday Morning house fellowship. They sang it once at the beginning and then at the end of the meeting we sang it all together with all of the mums and children present.

They were deeply touched by the lyrics and music. We included a burned CD of Jamie’s song in a gift bag that our women’s Bible study made for the mums.

Thanks so much for be a blessing on the other side of the world.

Thanks so much Christine — I’ll make sure Jamie knows.

P.S. We hope Laura isn’t causing too much trouble down there.

She arrived safe and sound this afternoon. She’s sound of mind but shaken in body. We’ll look after her. She has a full itinerary this week to help her body clock adjust. Tomorrow night-comedy night. Wednesday-Presbyterian womens conference and Bible study. Thursday - attend an evangelistic meeting. Friday - Welcome to Tasmania/Dress Like an American Tourist Party. Saturday - market day and Fair Trade film night. Sunday - church church church and a rugby game. phew! I’ll make sure she keeps her blog updated and posts pictures.
