New songs for modern missional worship, rich in Christian teaching and contextualized in modern culture. Contemporary hymns, psalms, songs of lament and praise written by members of the Louisville, KY-based Sojourn Community.
Yes, ladies and gentlemen, whether he’s dressing as the admiral of a ship in Her Majesty’s navy, producing records, writing songs, leading worship or touring with his band Dirt Poor Robins, Sojourn worship leader Neil Robins is quite a character. To say that he has stories to tell would be an understatement.
I sat down with Neil recently at The 930 Art Center and we talked about his songwriting process, as well as what he and wife (and regular songwriting collaborator) Kate Robins will be teaching at the free Sojourn Songwriting Seminar on Saturday, April 26, 3 pm. Neil is a very entertaining guest, so check out this short audio feature; you won’t be disappointed.
Neil answered these and other questions:
How long have you been writing songs, and what are some of the things you’ve learned since those first attempts?
You write alone and with various collaborators, such as No More Kings Pete Mitchell and your Dirt Poor Robins bandmate, wife Kate Robins. How is the writing process different when you have a co-writer?
What kinds of things do you intend to teach at the Sojourn Songwriting Seminar?
