New songs for modern missional worship, rich in Christian teaching and contextualized in modern culture. Contemporary hymns, psalms, songs of lament and praise written by members of the Louisville, KY-based Sojourn Community.
I had lunch late last week with Sojourn Worship Arts Pastor Mike Cosper (read parts one and two of his article “The Real World,” about the theological framework behind Before the Throne). Mike recently had some dental work done, so while I ate a burrito, he slurped on a Freezie and talked about plans for Sojourn’s upcoming worship project.
This project, co-produced by Mike and Neil Robins, will involve more Sojourn worship leaders than anything we’ve done in the past. Mike himself will provide further details soon here on sojournmusic.com, and when he does, I think you’ll agree that this is something different than what we’ve attempted before, and will add quite a few new songs to our repertoire.

Mark Driscoll, pastor at Mars Hill Church in Seattle, a partner of ours in the Acts 29 church planting network, recently preached a great sermon on the regulative principle of worship as part of his series, “Religion Saves + 9 Other Misconceptions.” You can watch the video or listen to an audio from the Mars Hill site.

Will Kotheimer, who has interviewed several Sojourn worship leaders for sojournmusic.com, just finished an interview with one of our long-standing leaders, Eddy Morris. Eddy is the owner of Ear Candy Studios, where we have recorded most Sojourn records.
Eddy himself has engineered the vast majority of the tracks you hear on our CDs, and he’s also a talented multi-instrumentalist, a community group leader and a humble brother in Christ — despite the fact that he’s quite a colorful character and will surely provide some interesting quotes. We’ll publish the text of this interview soon, so keep watching for it.

Speaking of long-time Sojourn worship leaders, Lorie King, who has been with us since shortly after Sojourn’s birth, will be visiting the folks at Landmark Baptist Church in Amelia, Ohio this weekend to talk about issues pertaining to worship arts ministries and ways in which Sojourn’s ministry has grown over the years.
She will also sit with me this week for an audio interview to discuss the integration of hymns with modern songs in worship services. Lorie has seventeen years of worship leading experience on four continents as well as a Masters degree in Worship, so we’re blessed to be able to rely on the experience and passion she brings. We’ll present that interview next week here at sojournmusic.com.
