2008 Band of Bloggers: The Gospel Trust

bandofbloggers1.jpgOn Tuesday, April 15 from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm, the 2008 Together For The Gospel conference, a major three-day event (T4G ‘08) coming to Louisville and featuring speakers like Al Mohler, C.J. Mahany, John Piper, Mark Dever and R.C. Sproul, will present a lunch meeting called Band of Bloggers, with the theme being “The Gospel Trust.”

This is the second such meeting of Christian bloggers from around the nation.  Emanating from the Galt House in downtown Louisville, the event will feature a panel discussion led by influential bloggers Tim Challies, Justin Taylor, Thabiti Anyabwile, and Mark Lauterbach.  It will be great time of fellowship, encouragement and renewal as we consider the trust that God has placed in us and the charge He’s given us, and how we can exercise wisdom and passion in carrying out this charge through the medium of New Media.

If you’re a blogger, social networker, or a reader and participant in such things, you should consider coming (register soon, because they’re already at near half-capacity.  It’s only $15 for this meeting — registration for the T4G conference is separate).  Check out the list of attendees so far, with links to their blogs.  In addition to the single attendees, ministries and organizations involved include Christianity Today, Union University, IX Marks Ministries, Crossway Publishers, Desiring God Ministries, Center for Biblical Manhood and Womanhood, Founders Ministries and more.

I will be there along with fellow Sojourners Aaron Marshall and Kevin Janes, and we would love to meet you.  Aaron is a volunteer coordinator and advisor for all of us who are involved in Sojourn’s internet services and websites.  Through his blog, churchsmo.com, he advises churches and ministries on succesfully using internet social media.  He’s given me plenty of great pointers, and even got me hooked up on the micro-blogging site Twitter.com (incidentally, if you Twitter, look me up and we’ll follow each other’s musings.  My moniker there is bobbygilles, which just happens to be my name so if you can remember one, you’ve got the other in the bag).

Kevin Janes is Sojourn’s Director of Communications, and as such is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all our communication efforts and maintaining a consistent “voice” for Sojourn Community Church.  He’s also the booker for the music venue portion of The 930 Art Center, and is high on my Friend List right now because he booked former Nickel Creek mandolinist Chris Thile’s new band, The Punch Brothers, for a show at our venue next Saturday, March 8.

Kevin and Aaron are great guys to work with and to know, highly professional and yet low-key and friendly.  I’m looking forward to attending Band of Bloggers with them, as well as meeting new people and talking about how we can use blogs, podcasts and the like to spread the gospel.
