New Update on Union University Tornado Damage Situation

Sojourn’s administrative assistant, Laura Roberts, just posted this, regarding the devastation caused by the tornadoes that ripped through Jackson, Tennessee on Tuesday and hit Union University, the site of a worship conference that was to be held next week, featuring Sojourn Worship Arts Pastor Mike Cosper and Teaching Pastor Daniel Montgomery, as well as other speakers:

“Hey all, I just spoke to Betty Bedsoll (an administrative assistant at Union) on the phone — she was calling to tell Mike (Cosper) the obvious news that there will not be a worship conference at Union next week like they had planned.  Betty … asked us to pray for a few things specifically.

— Two of the students who were injured during the tornadoes are still in critical condition at a local hospital.  They are expected to recover but their injuries were evidently quite serious.  Pray for their speedy recovery and the witness of their friends and family to the staff of the hospital.

— The community has been very generous in their support of Union, but there are still many students who have no way of getting home and no place to stay.  Pray that members of the community will step up and provide housing for those students.

— The staff, faculty, and administration of Union are faced with a daunting task and many decisions in the next few weeks and months.  Pray that they would be filled with the Holy Spirit’s wisdom, and the courage and stamina to take the next step.  Pray that the Lord would comfort their hearts with his presence.  Pray that our Father’s good word would guide them.

I asked Betty to keep in touch with us and let us know how we can continue to pray for them as the weeks go on.  This is a good place to start, you soldiers of Christ!  Let’s be in prayer for these dear brothers and sisters in this difficult time.”
