MP3 From Brand New Sojourn CD — Check It Out!

You just never know what’s gonna happen when great musicians and singer-songwriters get together — especially when they happen to be worship leaders who love singing about the coming of Messiah.

A couple months ago several members of the Sojourn worship team set out to do a slight update to Sojourn’s 2003 holiday album, Songs for the Advent.  But as they gathered together in Neil Robins’ Stellar Cellar Studios, the project seemed to take on a life of it’s own.  And just a short while ago – after weeks filled with feverish recording — Advent Songs was born: three revived tracks from the original album and five new tracks.  There are new songs, old songs, new melodies with old lyrics, new arrangements of old melodies … and of course the theological depth and stylistic diversity you’ve come to expect from Sojourn recordings.

This brand new album — which also features cover art from Michael Wilson, who has done album covers for the likes of Lyle Lovett and Over the Rhine — will be in our online store very soon (we haven’t even received our full shipment from the manufacturer yet) but in the meantime, you can hear three new cuts over the next three days right here on Sojournmusic.com.

The first is a wonderful Christmas hymn by Isaac Watts with an entirely new melody by Jamie Barnes, who also sings on the cut and plays multiple instruments (Dirt Poor Robins’ member Neil Robins adds piano, cello and keys as well).

You will recall that we announced a few weeks ago that Jamie will be leading a songwriting workshop for Sojourn in The 930 Listening Room, Louisville, KY at 3 pm on Saturday, January 19.
