Sojourn’s latest worship album connects the worship practices of the Church gathered to the ordinary stuff of daily life, a life lived before the throne of God. This life is a rich and varied experience of adoration, confession, thanksgiving, prayer for guidance, prayers of repentance and communal sharing of God’s peace, blessing and love.
Comprised of one classic hymn and ten new songs for worship written by members of the Sojourn community, “Before The Throne? is our most ambitious and collaborative project to date. From straight-on rockers like “My Maker And My King? to jazz-influenced cuts like “I’m Coming Back,? and from contemporary hymns such as “In The Shadow Of The Glorious Cross? and “Lead Us Back? to praise songs like “Come And Sing? and “There Is A Peace,? this album leads us through the movements of life, helping to inform and transform our prayers and remind us that no matter where we go, we are living and breathing in the presence of God, and that all of our lives are lived “Before The Throne.?
The vocalists and musicians on this collection have shared the stage with artists like Norah Jones, Derek Webb, Bill Mallonee and Peter Searcy, but never have they sounded better than on this theologically compelling and musically diverse set of new music for the modern Church.

“… genuine and honest moments that combine thoughtful lyrics with varied instrumentation make Before the Throne a winner from start to finish. If you’re like me and grow weary and tired of worship projects that offer merely more of the same, this one’s a true delight.” FIVE STARS
This album has achieved something remarkable. Where a large amount of Christian music either follows well trodden paths, or falls short of the quality of secular music, Sojourn have created something which does neither. The quality of the music will be enough to impress any music producer, the standard of playing is better than the majority of mainstream bands and yet the lyrics retain an essential spirituality and power.
“Take Norah Jones, Vigilantes of Love and Over The Rhine, put them in a room together to compose a theologically rich, beautifully produced, Southern-styled jazz-pop-folk-blues worship album, yet which has songs that are surprisingly singable in spite of their modern hymn-like qualities. That’s just to say, this CD is a SWEET surprise.”
“… a breath of fresh air … a disc that artistically and conceptually urges listeners to live an attitude of worship, humbly seeking God daily in prayer, praise, confession, thanksgiving and adoration.”
“… the packaging of this CD is immaculate, with parchment paper overlaying an illustrated city skyline. Very nicely put together, much like the music contained in these 11 tracks … always very eclectic and stirring.”
